Using the Build A List form
  1. Click on a section panel to expand or collapse it. A brief description of the category appears on the right side of each panel when the panel is collapsed.
  2. Enter your search criteria. Help for each field is available within the panel.
  3. Remember any options you enter here will limit the companies or people returned in your search.. After previewing your search results, you will be able to choose the set of fields you want to receive for each company or person in your list.
  4. If you want to see a quick view of the information you have selected, click on the Your Criteria panel towards the top of the page.
  5. To clear the search criteria you have entered, click the Clear Search button at the bottom of the page to start your search over.
  6. The number of results found for the search criteria you entered is shown at the bottom right of the screen. This number dynamically updates each time you have entered a criteria and then click anywhere else on the page.
  7. To delete criteria you have added either clear check boxes (so no check is in the checkbox) or clear text entry areas.

When you have entered all your criteria, click the Continue button at the bottom of the screen to see a preview of your search results. After you see your search results you will be able to select the type of list (depth of information) that you want to download.

How to Upload a File

If you do not want to hand-enter multiple data elements, such as ZIP codes, industry codes, or D-U-N-S® numbers, you can upload a list of those items. To upload a file:

  1. Click on the "Upload a file" link.
  2. Click the Browse button to browse to the file saved on your computer system. For Location and Industry Codes, make sure you select the desired file content options.
    A File Upload dialogue box will appear.
  3. Navigate to and select the file of data.
  4. Click the Open button on your system's dialogue box.
  5. Click the Upload button next to the Browse button.
    The name of the file you have uploaded will appear with the option to remove the file.
  6. To remove a file you have uploaded, click the file name.
File Format

The file you wish to upload must be in either .txt or Excel's .csv format.

For a .txt file For an Excel .csv file

Note: This refers only to an Excel-saved .csv file. Files must actually not contain any commas. If you are using a spreadsheet program other than Excel, it is recommended you use the .txt format.
